Since 1995, George Yantosik has assisted the U.S. Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with chemical stockpile emergency preparedness strategic planning, program management and evaluation, programmatic guidance compliance, plans integration, research and development of technical policies and procedures, and training. Major efforts during this period include planning and execution of annual Army/FEMA chemical emergency response exercises at chemical agent storage sites in Arkansas, Alabama, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, and Kentucky. Mr. Yantosik also assisted the U.S. Department of Defense in evaluating its capability to use new and emerging technologies to respond to domestic biological terrorism incidents; the Department of the Army in planning and conducting periodic exercises of the Army Chemical Service Response Force; and the Department of Homeland Security in a major exercise regarding the response to terrorism for top officials.

Prior to joining Argonne National Laboratory in 1993, Mr. Yantosik held a number of positions within the Army Materiel Command (AMC) involving nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and nuclear reactor logistics and operations for more than 30 years. As director of the AMC Surety Field Activity from 1988 through 1993, he was responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and reliability of all Army nuclear and chemical weapons throughout the continental United States, as well as nuclear reactors operated by the AMC. He directed and personally supervised comprehensive on-site technical inspections and exercises of these operations, researched ways to incorporate new and emerging technologies into AMC operations, supervised management and engineering studies to enhance these operations, and developed policy guidance to improve these programs.

Mr. Yantosik received an M.P.A. and a B.L.S. from the University of Oklahoma.
