Charles Van Groningen is a software developer and project manager specializing in the development and use of modeling and analysis tools. He has developed a wide range of tools, including Enhanced Logistics Intra-theater Support Tool (ELIST) for military transportation analysis; Logistics Process and Analysis Tool (LPAT), an extension of ELIST that also includes agent-based modeling of processes inside a node; Smart Bridge, which helps military analysts to remotely determine whether large vehicles can traverse bridges; and mission planning systems for the Special Operations Command of the U.S. military.
Dr. Van Groningen received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, specializing in artificial intelligence and knowledge representation; an M.S. in Computer Science from DePaul University; and a B.S. in Mathematics and Education from Trinity Christian College.
