Michael J. North, MBA, Ph.D. has over 20 years of experience developing and applying advanced modeling and simulation applications for the U.S. federal government, U.S. state governments, international agencies, private industry, and academia. He is also a Senior Fellow in the joint Computation Institute of the University of Chicago and Argonne.

Dr. North is the lead developer of and is a principal investigator for the widely used free and open source Repast agent-based modeling suite ( Dr. North is the lead author of the book Managing Business Complexity: Discovering Strategic Solutions with Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation, published by Oxford University Press in 2007, and has authored or co-authored over fifty journal articles and conference papers. He is also an invited contributor to the Encyclopedia of Complexity and System Science, published by Springer in 2009.

Dr. North has been recognized as a Senior Member by the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the American Society for Quality. Dr. North and his work have appeared on the cover of the July 27, 2007 edition of "Science." Dr. North holds ten college degrees, including a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
