Mary Ann Bitz has 20 years of experience in designing and implementing user interfaces for complex, data-intense applications for the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Defense.

She has developed applications in a range of languages, including Prolog, C++, and Java on both Sun workstation and Windows platforms. Applications have included military logistics models, real-time bioremediation systems, and environmental models. In the last decade, her primary focus has been on using Java to develop highly graphical interfaces combining geographic information systems (GIS) and large databases to simulate transportation networks. 

Ms. Bitz received her B.S. and M.S. in Engineering both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
