Internet Technologies
Internet Technologies provide real-time information to worldwide users through the World Wide Web. Web pages provide information, e-business, advertisement, news and access to digital libraries. However, the challenge is in organizing the information so that users not familiar with the information and its structure can precisely locate their desired information in a timely and efficient fashion.
Search engines which provide thousands (or perhaps hundreds of thousands) of results for a query are not useful. Large-scale digital libraries need to be structured in ways which allow users to locate not only the information, but the context and background of the information so that it can be accurately interpreted.
These are among the current challenges in large-scale Internet Technology and have provided the focus for the research and development initiatives in the Information Sciences Group.
