Planning

Planning is a critical component of an effective emergency preparedness program. Emergency planning includes activities and strategies for pre-incident public outreach and education, and plans and procedures for effective dissemination of information during response and recovery operations once an incident has occurred.

Argonne provides expertise in developing and implementing risk communication plans and procedures for both all-hazard and site-specific threats. All planning is consistent with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the National Response Plan (NRP).

Planning support falls into three general categories:

  • Creating, reviewing, and/or enhancing pre-incident and emergency plans
  • Designing implementation procedures and checklists
  • Developing guidance documents
